CITY OF LOVELAND

Art in Public Places Program ARTIST CALL FOR ENTRY

Transformations Project 2010

The City of Loveland Art in Public Places Program seeks six sculptures to be placed in Downtown Loveland as part of The Art Advocacy Project (TAAP).  The City of Loveland continues its commitment to supporting artists through TAAP. New and established Colorado artists are encouraged to be a part of this one-year sculpture exhibition scheduled from May 2010-May 2011. Selected artists will be awarded an honorarium of $500. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION IS MARCH 26, 2010.

Artists must own the rights to the artwork and the sculpture must be available for the duration of the one-year contract. All submissions must be professionally constructed of durable materials which will withstand the elements.

Submission details: Please attach three images per submission that clearly show a front and back view, and one detail shot. Artists may submit more than one sculpture for consideration, but each submission must have three images attached.  Please give all dimensions and a stated insurance value for the artwork. There are presently no restrictions on size; however, artists should be aware that sculptures will be placed within a well-traveled shopping/gallery streetscape on a 3 ˝’ x 3 ˝’ plinth.  The installation method for each sculpture should be welded tabs or similar easy-install method.

A citizen selection panel will work with the City of Loveland Visual Arts Commission to determine the six finalists.  Additionally, the artwork may be available for sale. The City of Loveland will install a recognition plaque indicating the title, medium, artist and contact phone number for purchasing artwork. All sculptures will be listed on the Art in Public Places web pages and within all TAAP promotional material.

Selected artists are responsible for transportation of the artwork to and from the installation site. The City is responsible for all costs for materials and workmanship for the initial installation of the Artwork, including, but not limited to, final site preparation, plinth, cleanup and repair of any damage caused during installation.

All application materials must be submitted through CaFE; however, please contact Suzanne Janssen, Public Art/Business Services Manager for the City of Loveland, should you need clarification regarding TAAP. Phone: 970-962-2490 Email:
