Mission:

Provide timely and accurate information about the City of Loveland government; its programs, policies, issues, actions, and events.

We keep you informed in a number of different ways:

City Update Newsletter

The City Update is delivered to 33,000 Loveland residences and businesses monthly. It is also viewable on the City’s website. Every edition has a primary focus on issues, activities and events that are important to the Loveland community. City Update is written and edited by the Public Information staff and delivered with monthly utility bills. It is cited by citizens as the most-often-read communication tool from the City.

Loveland’s Talking

“Loveland’s Talking” is the City’s only locally produced television program. Topics include City programs, services, events, issues and news. Guests usually include City staffers and sometimes a City board or commission member discussing the “what and why” of City operations. “Loveland’s Talking” is broadcast at various times throughout the month on Loveland’s cable TV channel 16.

Get Connected

The City's Public Information Office and Internet Technology Department  have created a user-friendly website tool designed to help City website users more quickly reach the staff person or office to best serve their needs. Using a keyword search, the Get Connected page pulls up phone numbers, e-mail addresses and web pages linked to the key words.

Dateline: Loveland

For more than a decade, the City has used the Dateline: Loveland page in the Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald to provide a wide variety of City information to the community. Subject matter for Dateline: Loveland corresponds to the monthly City Update newsletter themes. Dateline pages are also displayed on the City website.

Two Minutes Max

Two Minutes Max (TMM) are two-minute long, City-produced videos that give a brief overview of current and ongoing City issues, topics of interest and programs in Loveland. They are posted on the City's website and are also shown repeatedly on cable TV channel 16.

1610 AM Radio

The 1610 AM radio transmitter system broadcasts messages regarding road construction and events of interest to area visitors and residents. 1610 AM is a vital community communication tool and is relied upon to disseminate important information in the event of an emergency or special situation.

Channel 16 Programming

The City's cable Channel 16 TV station broadcasts live City Council and Planning Commission meetings as well as a number of pre-recorded video productions that provide health, education and safety information to the community. Informational slides announcing special events, programs information also run between scheduled programming.

City Website

The City's website contains comprehensive information on City departments, policies, programs and events. The Public Information Office makes additions and/or updates to the City's website almost daily.

Media Releases/Flyers/Brochures

The Public Information Office authors or assists in producing City media releases and other printed materials. Many media releases and materials are also prepared and sent independently through other City offices.

Additional Videos

In addition to TMM videos, other informational videos are produced providing concise information about City programs, policies and public safety.

Community Survey

The Public Information Office is involved with creating and executing a major citywide survey. The survey is sent to 3,000 Loveland addresses seeking citizen opinion on the value and effect of City services.

Joint Information Center

The Public Information Office has established an Information Call Center and Joint Information Center (JIC) for use in the event of a local emergency or special situation. Ten JIC workstations can be used to gather, confirm and disseminate information via the City's information outlets, including the website, cable TV channel 16, 1610 AM radio, special phone lines, media releases and e-mail.

Red Flag

As part of the Public Information Office's attention to emergency preparedness, the regional online PIO contact list received a major update in 2007. Nicknamed the Red Flag page and hosted on the City of Loveland's website, the page provides widespread access to contact information for PIO staffers throughout northern Colorado, whose assistance may be required in the event of a major emergency in the region.
