Burn Permits/Regulations

 

To obtain a burn permit and/or additional information, please contact the City of Loveland Fire Marshal at (970) 962-2537.

 

Within Loveland City Limits: No burning is allowed within the City limits of Loveland except for the following, all of which require a permit:

 

1.                   Removal of weeds from ditches, ditch banks and ditch right-of-ways performed by or under the direct supervision of a ditch company.

2.                   Cooking fires that require pits, i.e., pig roasts and recreational bonfires. Note: A permit is not required for barbecue grills, portable cooking appliances, commercial outdoor fire pits, ceramic or clay fire pots and similar devices.

 

Outside Loveland City Limits:  Permits are required for the following types of burns:

 

1.                   Ditch Burns, including ditch companies.

2.                   Recreational/Cooking fires that exceed 3’ by 3’.

3.                   Slash Burns - permits are issued between October 1 and April 1, and need to comply with Larimer County Rules of Burning. Contact Fire Marshal at (970) 962-2537 for detailed information.
