Daryle Klassen was elected on November 7, 2006 to serve out the seat vacated by Ron Weaks effective until November, 2009. On November 3, 2009, Daryle was elected to a four-year term effective until November, 2013

Biography

Daryle W. Klassen was born in Hillsboro, Kansas in 1934, graduate of Wichita High School North, then received a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in speech and journalism at the University of Wichita. Klassen chose a career in radio and television early in life, and acquired his first commercial broadcast employment at age 18

 

Upon graduation from Wichita University, Klassen was commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, and entered flight school in 1958. Klassen flew with the Strategic Air Command, and upon exit from active duty, joined the Kansas Air National Guard and the Tactical Air Command, achieving the rank of Captain

 

The broadcast career ran simultaneously with Air Force duty. Klassen performed all areas of commercial Radio and TV, writing, production, play by play, news anchor, weather, sports, and finally sales. In 1970, Klassen fulfilled a lifelong dream of radio station ownership, acquiring Radio Stations KLOV am/fm in Loveland, Colorado. The stations won several awards in Colorado and won a reputation for strong local news coverage. The Stations were sold after 14 years of ownership.

 

In 1985, Daryle Klassen was elected to the Larimer County Board of Commissioners, and served eight years in this office.  During this time, Klassen served either on, or as a liaison to 23 county boards and commissions.  Daryle has also been directors on the Loveland Chamber of Commerce, the Colorado Broadcasters Association, the Larimer County Social Services, the Board of Equalization, Has been a property value protest hearing officer for 18 years, and served on the initial Loveland Economic Development Commission.

 

Daryle Klassen and his wife, Shirley, are avid gardeners, outdoor Colorado enthusiasts, and delight in entertaining in their outstanding backyard landscape, yet are on constant lookout for a concert or live theatre to enjoy.
