The Parks & Recreation Department is continually working on various projects in the parks, along the recreation trails and in the open lands & natural areas surrounding our beautiful city!  If any of those projects is expected to impact the facilities or amenities regularly accessed by the public, we will do our best to inform everyone of the expected detours being put in place, or if closures will be required.

Flood 2013 Information -

FULL closure remains at Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park.

Boyd Lake Avenue Improvements

Boyd Lake Avenue, which leads to Loveland Sports Park, will have possible lane closures due to road construction and improvements.  The limited access/lane closures will occur from Highway 34 south to the park's entrance.

Fairgrounds Park Limited Access -

There will be limited access to Fairgrounds Park during the third & fourth quarters of 2017.  This is due to repairs/replacement of roadway and railroad tracks at the Railroad Avenue crossing; a Public Works project. 

South Parking Lot will be CLOSED:  Access will be available ONLY from the north end of Railroad Avenue and main parking lot.  The Dog Park and Milner-Swartz historical property access points will remain open to walk-ins from the north parking lot. Please keep dogs on leash until they are within the Dog Park confines.

Loveland Sports Park Splash Pad Closure -

We will be closing the splash pad at Loveland Sports Park on September 5th and blowing out the entire system. The splash pad will be closed for the remainder of the year. This will include the stand-alone drinking fountain at the Corporate Shelter, due to it being on the same supply line. This is all in preparation for the upcoming repair/construction taking place on the splash pad. Portions of the playground may be affected as well, with closures due to concrete work. Once construction has been completed the affected playground areas will re-open for the winter months.

Buckhorn Northern Railroad -

Seasonal closures occur at the miniature train location
(CLOSED from Labor Day weekend to Memorial Day weekend).

Lake Loveland Swim Beach
& Winona Outdoor Pool -

Seasonal closures occur at the swim beach and outdoor pool areas (CLOSED from Labor Day weekend to Memorial Day weekend). Please see the Outdoor Swimming web page for further updates & closure information.

North Lake Park Swim Beach & Park Areas

The Swim Beach at North Lake Park and the adjacent park areas will be CLOSED on July 3rd-5th for fireworks setup and safety zone, in addition to park clean-ups afterwards.  During closure, barriers will be in place.  Please DO NOT cross the barriers.

Parks & Natural Area Closures 

Seasonal closures occur at various parks and natural area locations due to inclement weather. Those locations will be gated/locked as necessary for public safety reasons.
These areas may be (not limited to) Loveland Sports Park, River's Edge Natural Area, etc.

Parks Flush Restrooms

Seasonal closures occur at the flush restrooms in the parks during the winter months to avoid freezing pipes, etc.  During this time, Port-o-Lets are placed at those winterized locations instead.
