Show deals with intended and needed
improvements
Home improvement projects
and homes that need improvement are the subjects of May’s “Loveland’s
Talking” TV show on cable channel 16.
Dave Sprague from the City’s Building
Division looks at common warm-weather home improvement projects and
discusses whether or not a building permit is required. He points out
the safety benefits of building permits and details what’s involved in
the permitting process.
City Code Enforcement Officer Kristine
Burns and Terry Cook of the Solid Waste Division discuss the health,
safety and unattractiveness impacts of violations of city code. Using
photos to illustrate their examples, they explain regulations dealing
with overgrown weeds, garbage and trash, junk vehicles, unsafe
properties and more.
“Loveland’s Talking” is part of the
Tapes of Interest programming segment shown each month on channel 16.
The May offerings include programs on other subjects.
Among them is “Frogline,” an
entertaining and informative program dealing with storm water and
pollution. Using frog puppets to spoof TV news reporters, information
is provided about storm runoff and effects of chemicals, pesticides,
dirt, fertilizer, pet waste, auto oil and more on rivers, lakes and
other water supplies.
As the title implies, “Kids and
Airbags” focuses on safety for children in airbag-equipped vehicles.
“Protecting Yourself from West Nile
Virus” is a locally-produced, detailed program on the disease that
infected nearly 3,000 people in Colorado last year. The show discusses
the disease itself, its effects and prevention suggestions for both
humans and animals.
Tapes of Interest is
shown on channel 16 all month beginning at:
8
a.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday
11 a.m., Friday,
Saturday and Sunday
4 p.m., Wednesday and
Sunday.
