Morey Wildlife Reserve
Now Open!

The City of Loveland opened the Morey Wildlife Reserve to the public on Saturday, May 24th, 2008.  Morey Wildlife Reserve is located near the Big Thompson River, just west of Mariana Butte Golf Course.

The city purchased the 27-acre natural area in 2000.  Since that time, the Natural Areas Division and the previous owner have been conducting reclamation and restoration activities and the property has not been open to the public.

Morey Wildlife Reserve is managed by the City of Loveland, Parks and Recreation Department, Natural Areas Division.  A soft-surface trail allows access to the north end of the pond and back.  The east side of the pond is a wildlife conservation area and is not accessible by the public (see map).  Allowed uses include passive recreation activities, providing excellent opportunities for bird watching, wildlife observation, nature study, and environmental education.  To protect the property’s sensitive natural resources, dogs and other domestic animals are prohibited on the property at all times.  Hunting, fishing, jogging, and bicycling are also prohibited.  The site will be open for walk-in access from sunrise to sunset.  Volunteer trail hosts will be available on-site at various times to answer questions and provide visitor information.
