Approximately twenty miles of paved urban trail are planned with the goal of developing off-street trails that will encompass the perimeter of the city. Quarter-mile markers are located along a large portion of the trail to measure distance traveled. Currently, these markers begin counting near the Wilson Avenue area and continue around to end at the north end of Boyd Lake State Park.

The trail is partially handicap accessible from several locations (see the trail map), and is designed to accommodate many types of recreational uses.

Guidelines
1) Please obey all signs.
2) Please stay on the designated trail; be courteous; and respect the rights of adjacent property owners.
3) Please keep the trail clean and safe for all users by putting litter in its place.
4) All pets must be on a hand-held leash.
5) For the enjoyment of all trail users, please pick up after your pet.
6) Horses (except police) are not allowed on the current paved sections of the trail.
7) Motorized vehicles (except police and maintenance) are not allowed on the trail.
8) The flow of traffic on the trail is similar to road traffic. Always ride or walk on the right side and warn others of your approach.
9) Ride or walk single file when traffic is coming from the opposite direction or when someone verbally signals they would like to pass.
10) Be predictable: ride or walk in a straight line and avoid weaving. When passing others on the trail, verbally warn them that you are passing on the left.
11) Be aware of children, pets and slower moving traffic.
12) Bicyclists are encouraged to use helmets. Make sure your bike is operational and properly equipped (including reflectors and lights).
13) Report accidents on the trail directly to the Police Department (Dial 911).
14) Report trail maintenance problems or vandalism to the Parks and Recreation Department at 962-2727.
