Digital Cycling Unit Installation & Operation

A Loveland Water & Power crew member will install a device known as a Digital Cycling Unit or DCU that, when connected to your outdoor air conditioning compressor, will turn off the compressor for a small percentage of the time it would normally run.  This unit has a radio receiver inside and when activated will begin the cycling process.  The unit only activates when the Loveland Water & Power has made the decision to cycle.  Again, this will occur no more than 20 days from May through September.

Please remember that your central air conditioning system remains operational at all times.  Therefore, the fan will continue to circulate already cooled indoor air throughout your home.  This program is an excellent way for you to make a difference without feeling a difference!

The cycling unit has been engineered with your home cooling system in mind and will not damage your system.  Major manufacturers of central air conditioners have attested to the safety of these devices for your compressor.

The small amount of savings from all participants helps lessens the strain on the power grid and expense associated with power purchases during periods of critical peak demand.  Your help assists Loveland Water & Power, your community utility provider, to maintain a reliable electricity distribution system and keep your rates competitive!
